Mother’s Day is coming near

Give thanks to Mother who you hold so dear

She works so hard the whole year through

Doing things endlessly all for you

Rose Table Runners

Whether it’s a rose or a table cloth

Giving thanks is never enough

Appreciating all that she has done

Telling her she’s # 1

Valentines Day…

Its pouring someone a drink after they ate a snack and they’re probably thirsty

Its buying a small item for someone knowing its something they can really use

Its writing a small note saying you’re thinking about them

Its letting Mom sleep in late knowing she was up with the baby at night

valentines pizza

Its setting the table when the kids are hungry and Mom is finishing up

Its clearing the table after dinner when homework and chores are on the list as well

Its babysitting so Mom can get out a bit

Its preparing a special breakfast with some thoughtful treats

Its small acts of kindness that show lots of love

I have a grandma she is 82

She has not just one ailment but quite a few

She tries real hard not to complain,

But sometimes she can’t ignore the pain.

Since she retired she now has the time,

To listen to her body and hear it chime.

I thought it would be a great idea,

To invite her over and spread some cheer.

I’ll also invite her friends for cake and wild berry zinger

Just think of the pleasure the event will bring her.

“Great” said Grandma see you then

“I’ll circle on the calendar so I will know when.”

On that designated day they all arrived,

Happily chatting they all stepped inside.

The discussion was centered around the table

Reminiscing of the time when they were able

To knit a piece, an old world style

A tablecloth such as mine they have not seen in a while

It’s delicate lace a work of art,

Heirloom square

The intricate styles that set them apart.

So busy talking soon the hour was late,

They thanked me for the party and said it was great!

Such a good time they hadn’t had in years

No time to worry or address their fears

Never heard from them so much as a groan,

So glad of the party that I had thrown!

On this wintery day so very frigid

I recall a memory so vivid

Of my mom and I when I was a child

My mom took my sis and me

To a wide open field filled with strawberries

For a day filled with fun under the sun

strawberry patch.

We each got a basket and told to fill to the top

Luscious strawberries we ate unable to stop

We tried to pick the juiciest ones that were red

strawberries

My sister couldn’t differentiate

So she picked the unripe ones instead

We laughed and enjoyed each other’s company

Till it was time to go home to kitchen duty

To strawberry jam making and strawberry pie baking….

Oh those days have gone by, now there are just memories

So I’m spreading out my tablecloth filled with printed strawberries

Wild Berries 2

Glad I have something to remind me of good ol’ days gone by

And made up my mind that I will try

When the weather turns warmer a strawberry patch I’ll see

And enjoy the day out with my family.
