DIY Napkin Rings

I was having  guests come over for dinner and wanted to have some nice table decor to compliment my table. I found a blog on DIY napkin rings using toilet paper rolls and fabric and decided to give it a try. I had recently reupholstered my dining room chairs and having some material left over, decided to use it for the napkin rings. I thought it would be neat to have the napkin rings match the upholstery on the chairs.

I went to the craft store to get some glue and when I told her I needed basting glue as per instructions for my project, she tried convincing me that fabric glue would work better. On a whim I brought both the fabric glue and the basting glue just to make sure. Well the fabric glue just bled through the material. The basting glue worked really well. It’s certainly worth following instructions-USE ONLY BASTING GLUE!

I also found that that thicker toilet paper roll is much easier to work with than the thinner one and hopefully will make the napkin rings last much longer! It also pays to iron the material as it much easier to work with.

I slid the napkin rings onto my cloth napkins and boy did they look great!

This project was very enjoyable and it really complimented my table! Here is the link for the DIY Napkin Rings I got lots of compliments! Try it and you will too!

Thanksgiving

Even though Hurricane Sandy tried to rip our spirits, the  upcoming holidays will bring warmth to our spirits and souls. Our thoughts are with those that were affected by the storm. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for what we do have and to reach out to those that are less fortunate. As we spread our tablecloths  down and fill our tables with food, napkins, placemats, and holiday decor, lets reach out to those that don’t have and give them something to smile about.

Halloween

Halloween’s around the corner let’s get in the mood!

How will we decorate-with tablecloths or food?

The tablecloths are crawling with spiders

Oh what a creepy site!

And what adorns the table?

Yummy Halloween delights!

So decorate-whatever your style.

The applause you’ll get will be worthwhile!

A Tablecloth Poem

I was sitting at the table when I started to dream,

Of a magnificent tablecloth that I have seen.

I seemed so elegant I wanted it to grab,

Our table is starting to look quite drab.

Ok said my husband but have pity on me,

We have to spend wisely in this economy.

I did a search and got quite a sale,

Then I noticed how our walls looked so very pale.

A coat of paint will do wonders you see,

I’ll do it all myself the labor will be free.

I did all the painting but when I stepped aside,

I noticed spots on the floor that we really had to hide!

A new floor is quite an expense I know,

But an area rug will make the place glow!

Our house did shine I really felt great,

Then I stared at the table where I just ate.

We have guests coming soon and I have to save face,

The tablecloth I must replace!
